Hotel suggestions near San Francisco?

mamabear, your D (and you) will love Aziza. Point Reyes is wonderful…go to the lighthouse…and you may see the whales as they migrate south. Stop at the Cowgirl Creamery and the Bovine Bakery in PR Station. Lots of great healthy, organic food there…cute town.

A car in SF is a real hinderance…rent for a day.
If you do the cable cars, my suggestion is to go early, preferably not on a weekend day. I do not have the patience to wait in lengthy lines to ride cc.

Beach Blanket: I’ve been 29 times. Always entertaining, current. For 21 and over except for Sunday matinee and a few select evenings. Has been running over 40 years…America’s longest running revue…my fave entertainment.

We’ve enjoyed many of the free walking tours thru CityGuides. Covers just about every area of SF.

Enjoy!

One trip we ate at Helmand’s Palace for afghan food. They had a lot of vegetarian options.

If you go to Golden Gate Park do visit the Japanese Garden. You pay an admission but it is lovely. You can also go to the top of the tower at the De Young Museum without paying an admission charge to the museum itself which was recently rebuilt by Herzog & De Meuron architects. You get an awesome 360 view of SF from the top and the whole museum plaza area is lovely spot to walk or sit for awhile.

The only thing we got to do at Golden gate park was to go to outsidelands.
But it was fun, & I got to see Tom Jones!

Any suggestions for brunch within walking distance of Vanness and Valerio? Or Fillmore and Lombard? Preferably dog friendly.

Mom60…try Cafe des Amis is at Union and Buchanan…

or Greens (great vegetarian) at Fort Mason…

Ive always wanted to go to Chez Panisse.

Thanks Gosmom. cafe des Amis is a great location. Halfway between our hotel and D’s apartment.
