Housing Assignments are Up

Greenville makes a very good point. I’ve had some pretty serious roommate issues (in retrospect hilarious stories), but it really didn’t matter. Any time we started to get into it, I’d just go somewhere else- a friend’s apartment, the library, Strom, the Horseshoe, Russell House. A lot of times a group of friends will have one central hang out location, usually someone’s room. If everyone else’s rooms are awful it doesn’t matter because they’re never there, and if the central location is awful, it doesn’t matter because for college students, it’s the people who matter. There’s no need to stress out. If your child is really unhappy with his or her dorm, then sure, try to get a change, but chances are, they’re more excited to see who they’re going to be living with than what circumstances they’ll be living under. An icky dorm room won’t make for a terrible college experience. Sometimes it can even make it more interesting.
