Housing for Fall Question

In the past, only Honors kids could choose Landis. You can call and ask Honors for their exact answer to be safe, I don’t want to give you bad advice. However, Landis has approximately 400 beds. Not many upperclassmen stay there - most would rather go to apartment style dorms like Ragans or Traditions or go off campus. I would think most Honors kids will safely get a spot in Landis if they want it.

Also - I think you will lose your priority number if you don’t pay the $225 by today? Are you thinking you’d resubmit your application again after the 28th?

We actually found a Facebook page for Landis last night. My daughter scoured through all the photos and now it’s her first choice, Azalea second. Hopefully she gets accepted to honors because she just finished all those horrid essays and now she’s pretty excited about it.

My son checked, his # is 1189 and is applied for honors. The entrance the kids use for Magnolia is really close to Landis Green and faces the Traditions garage. The food locations on the meal plan are all in Azalea.

My daughter did not want to write the essays and lived in Magnolia the first year it opened, first floor. If your child is in a sorority Magnolia or Azalea can be super convenient with many houses so close. It ended up that way for her and her suite mate.

You typically must be on their sorority meal plans if you join. Keep that in mind parents and students. It becomes a real PITA and wallet after you move off campus. Guess what - meals are part of the dues and if you don’t eat you still pay. Yeah.

My daughter was accepted into the Honors program and is trying to decide whether to put Landis as a preference for her dorm. Although she signed up for housing within the first 2hrs of it opening, she got a horrible number - 3869. This is making it hard when trying to find a roommate, given how they allocate roommates based on the ‘worst’ number. If you have a good number, who in their right minds would want to request someone with a worse number!

Unless she has someone specific in mind to room with, it’s completely fine to go with a random roommate. My daughter used a FSU student group to find a roommate. The roommate is sweet, but my daughter ended up much closer to her random suitemate, and they will live together next year. They are in Landis this year and love it!
