If both groups get into Bruce you and your friend (that are switching) should talk to Panther Central ASAP to get the switch done. I say this because it’s better to have the switch already in the system before you move in next year rather than move in, then have to switch, and have it be a pain. But since you already have a person lined up willing to make the switch, it shouldn’t be a problem.

With number 154 you will be fine getting into Bruce. I am not sure about 1074. I want to say “yes” because most low-number sophomores-to-be will probably be aiming for Ruskin or Panther/PA as opposed to an older dorm on lower campus.

Getting into Bruce requires filling out the suite/apartment application form (Link to Housing Selection info: http://www.pc.pitt.edu/housing/documents/HousingSelectionBrochure.pdf) That form is due by Feb 8 if you haven’t already turned it in.

I’m assuming you haven’t, which is good, because your question 1 is moot. When you fill out the application form, that is when you get decide which people will be in which group.

If you did already turn in your form, ask PC to see if you can change it. If not, then here is how apartment/suite selection works:

PC will release a list of all the groups that get to pick apartments/suites on Feb. 20 at 5pm. If your group is on that list, the people with the 154 and 1074 lottery number should be seen at some point. Next to the name will be a date and time that they can log onto the system to pick a room.

When you log on, you’ll pick Bruce Hall, and then be able to see all the 4 person suites that are open for you to choose. The 154 person will obviously have much better selection. Really, it all depends on what is remaining when the 1074 person logs in later. There could be a lot of suites on every floor or none. The 154 person should tell 1074 what floor he picked and 1074 should try that floor first, and then subsequent floors.

As for if it’s realistic: Like I said that all depends on how many people want 4 person suites in Bruce and what kind of lottery numbers they have.

P.S. I saw your post on Reddit but thought that other people may benefit from it more here. You’ll probably get a similar response there soon too.
