Housing when studying abroad

My DS is currently Sophomore and has a low number (53), so he and his friends plan on moving to Bouquet Gardens. The issue is, one of his friends is going to study abroad the fall semester and wants to live with them for Spring semester. I’m guessing that they put a random person in the apartment for the fall to take his spot?

I suggested they try to find someone that will be studying abroad or away for what ever reason in the Spring, so they could pick the person who lives with them in the fall.

Any ideas on the Panther Central policy and how to make it work for their friend who’s away in the fall?

DS went on a coop rotation during the fall semester. PC put a random person in the apartment he was going to share with his friends for the entire year. PC put DS into a single room in Towers when he returned for the Spring semester. I don’t know how flexible PC would be in your situation.

My daughter had a two-bedroom, three-person apartment. One apartment-mate studied abroad in the spring, but no one else moved in. Kind of the opposite of what your son needs. I would think that they would be hesitant to boot someone out mid-year.

This may work for them, but it is also probably the only thing that PC will allow. Unless there happens to be an opening in Bouquet because someone else has been gone for the spring, the friend will just be put wherever there is another available open room (ex. Tower C like MTnest said). There’s not guarantee, but they should talk to PC now about it, because they may end up with a random 4th person in their room.
