Housing

If it’s any solace, ours went to the last June-O. A really good experience and valuable in a number of ways. Met her roommate (they requested each other …didn’t work so well :(, but live and learn:cool: …), registered for courses, none of which were her preferences (Esquette’s counsel: Good…go early and often:confused:); checked out dorms and determined pref there too (Shorney (West or South Quad?), a very good frosh choice for all reasons Esq. notes ;)). She’s been in East this and next. Likes them both.

As I’ve bellyached before, the class registration is our really substantive issue that I’m tempted to lable “false adverising.” It just seems way more painful than my memory resurrects (good choice of Word for this week! :D), and belies the implication of being at a DU. In reality, it’s where economics and strategies (i.e. investing much of endowment in scholarships rather than faculty #s) get into reality clash, real life exposing the truth that we “can’t have everything” maybe? In the end, it seems to be working out. But nonetheless, it’s grief, especially for an entity pitching “personalized, individualized, customized” etc.

But DU is very flexible on housing …locales, roommates, etc. And if you’d rather not know if the baby’s a boy or girl? Well, they’ll be happy to surprise as well. Sometimes that’s best, it seems.
