Personally, I am not sure how useful a campus visit may be. We may catch one moment, although it may or may not reflect the climate of the school.
LACs are small, and it may be harder than large schools to avoid some activities/climate.
We have visited half the LACās on this list and have not encountered any protests or indications of extreme political views on any of them. In fact, that goes with the essence of what a LAC should be - students studying various subjects and not necessarily getting boxed into a major/career right away. Same with political views.
I would think LACs are less political. Thatās not where you saw the issues happening.
A Hillsdale, of course, will be more politicalā¦but you donāt have the #s there and as we know a lot of protestors at many places were brought in - and itās the big names that get the attention..so theyāre likely not going to rural Virginia or Iowa to light up a school environment.
Iām not sure the climate you are looking for - but my guess is, it will be more low key at an LAC - and more respectful as beliefs are shared.
