How are a few bad grades on the transcirpt looked at ?

Sorry, double post.

@chambersw‌

Why should @T26E4‌ come to Brooklyn? I’m stunned to read that last sentence. Threatening bodily harm is an embarassment to you as a young man & inappropriate. I hope you don’t exhibit these types of anger issues offline/in the real world. It really speaks to your character. Having a hot head can really get you into a world of trouble. A truly educated person can express his anger without resorting to violence. I hope you learn that valuable lesson before you matriculate.

I thought GPA was determine at the END of junior year…I know that’s the way it works here in our district. Are things different in NYC?

PS. In addition to your other weaknesses already mentioned, your grammar and spelling need lots of work. Make sure your essays are edited by someone who knows how to write.

No, you are not. We talked about this and I thought you agreed that was not the case. It is what one hopes for, but no one is “entitled” to it. However, that is in fact what you are getting, at least in their opinion. If someone thinks that you are being unrealistic thinking you will get accepted to Cornell, they are giving you constructive advice. To whit, make sure you apply to other schools where you are sure to get in. Dreaming is fine, but understand that dreams don’t always come true and have a Plan B. Or in this case several Plan B’s, i.e. some match and safety schools.

No one posts opinions on here to make themselves feel better at your expense. They are trying to help. Finally, if you really believe that

then what is the point of being on here in the first place? And exactly why should anyone on here have faith in you? We don’t know you at all, except what we see you write. At this point would you have faith in a kid that lashes out, curses, and threatens other members who said nothing mean-spirited in the least? Giving an opinion that doesn’t agree with what you think or want to hear is not mean spirited. You really have to both get a handle on that temper and completely redefine what you think is and isn’t constructive criticism.

Get it together. What you are doing doesn’t help you and is a waste of other people’s time.

I am not the poster here on CC who is going to blow smoke up your boohiney. I get it, you are AA and first generation. You think that Cornell is gonna come knocking at your door because…uh what??? It is not the 3.0 and the SAT that you have not disclosed. I am sorry if this is harsh, but you do a disservice to URM applicants, thinking you should get in with less than stellar numbers and the rest. Their are MANY AA applicants that are on par for Cornell and other schools that exhibit grace and.class, unlike your self proclaimed entiltlement. I say this in a serious way…please be realistic in your apptitude and turn back the attitude.

Btw, my D is AA and went to an elite UG… she earned her way into it with a 3.96 UW and a 33 ACT.

Sorry @chambersw, I have disagreed with some of these other posters in the past but not this time. I have a child with an almost perfect transcript (I think one B in high school), top 3% of class , LOTS of great ECs, AP classes, community service, etc… what a lot of schools likely considered having it all based on the schools my child got into, EXCEPT for Cornell. That was child’s dream school, only one they felt was a perfect fit . Based on Naviance, etc… it was pretty much a match - had a great chance. Well there were obviously others that had something that set them apart from my child that Cornell wanted. You had better hope you have that special something and not be too cocky about ‘i will get in’. I know of many other kids in the same boat as mine, top of the top students getting rejected by the likes of Duke, Stanford, Brown… I hope for your sake you take all this in from all of these posters because we have been there, done that. Don’t assume your AA status is a hook for you, please. Learn to love your ‘safeties’ just in case. Best of Luck to you :)

Hey streetcred, you actually agreed with me on something. :)>-

@chambersw hasn’t been back to respond…maybe he took our advice?

I am still here ,lol . However I have taken all the opinions on here , good and bad and have just decided to work hard to put together the best application I can. Coming on here to argue and get advice is useless if you don’t put in the work and achieve .Sometimes you just have to do it , and stop asking or talking about what might happen , or what you want to do .You got to show people that you are made of greatness , I had to learn that from a young age . @newhavenctmom
