wow this is an old thread… one that i posted on a couple of years ago.

now that i have first hand experience with the gyms… i have to say it is very disappointing. Charging a fee for membership is indeed totally ridiculous. nearly all schools provide this as a part of enrollment.

not to mention the facilities are not great- they serve their purpose but are definitely not ‘state of the art’ as some may have implied. appel is ridiculous- 3 treadmills?! (well 4… but one has been ‘out of order’ for the last year and a half…solid). HNH is better, but still nothing special. and noyes, which was supposed to be the crowned jewel as far as fitness facilities go, is just a very poorly designed building that is not much more than a newer version of HNH with a convenience store. i remember when it was being built people were like ‘its even going to have a rock climbing wall!’… wait til you see it for yourself- its not much more than a fence with pegs on it.

as a transfer from northwestern, the facilities they had (SPAC gym was insane and probably the size of all of cornells gyms put together with MUCH newer/better/more equipment- free of any additional charge) were far superior.
