How badly will collegeboard deduct points for SAT Essay

Dude what? You used 5 examples? How did you organize that? I went with: Elon Musk and his self-improvement through paypal, Tesla, and then Space X. I did the counter of RIM and how the executives were too content with the Blackberry and failed to stay with the times. Filled right to the last line.

I now realize that Beowulf would have been a tremendous example. Urgh I read it recently, too.

My conclusion was a single, longer length sentence. Could I still get a 12?

How much are you expecting this time? I’m hell scared of the results. Umm and yeah can we send sat scores freely to four colleges?

I screwed up as well.
I highlighted how the media covered everything that public figures did.
For the Civil Rights Act,the Montogomery Bus Boycott was covered,Luther King’s speech was broadcasted, and when Ray Charles boycotted the concert halls that did not grant access to Black people, newspapers published this.As a result, the world’s attention was on America and the United Nations pressured the government to end racial inequality. And in 1964,the Civil Rights Act was passed.

For my second example,I did more than screw up! -_-
I had no time left, and just put how women were feeling oppressed by gender inequality. So they protested in front of the White House and all around America.Their fight was covered by F.Douglass’s press ‘Equality for All’.In the end,on 10 August 1920,the 14th (or 19th) amendment was passed: gender inequality became unlawful.

I even started my essay with an irrelevant quote:‘If you haven’t gained attention on your fight, you’re sure to lose’.->Malcom X (false quote).

As you can see,I too was well off-topic!
I’ll probably retake in December. :(

@Porcupine I had that prompt as well. I talked about contentment with the way things are (conservatism/maintaining the status quo) in regards to society as a whole (by extension of individualism). What do you think about the validity of an argument that highlighted the ongoing government shutdown because of the obduracy of House Republicans (in regards to progressivism and social evolution) and also the mentioning of ongoing medical research and its incorporation into practice? Without the latter, one’s quality of life would surely decrease and lack thereof is additionally implied by being satisfied with the way things are. I essentially stated that liberalism is necessitated by an ever-evolving civilization, especially a first world nation such as the US…

The prompt asked about people, not society. That may have been a little off-topic but that should be ok, considering it’s CB. The thing about the Republicans is a little hard to see how you would have argued successfully, to be honest. Something controversial like social evolution should be avoided if possible. You seem to use a lot of fancy words and fluff. Of course, I don’t know whether you wrote that way or not on the actual essay. “Pretentious diction”, as my AP lang teacher calls it, will only call for a lower score in terms of style. Your topics seem way too complex to have fully explained even with two paragraphs per topic.

That’s just my honest opinion. I’m probably too critical when compared to CB’s standards.
