But, for the last week or so, I’ve been trying to wrestle out of you why? you guys just keep bantering “eww” and “gross” and somehting about disease…but those aren’t why we base our laws. SO again, I am asking you, why not?

I don’t mean facts as in statistics. I mean that I have all the information I need and have heard different points of view. I firmly believe that since it spreads a deadly disease, it is something harmful. And that it is a mental disorder (an incurable on at that). For these reason, and others, I know that gay marriage would not benifit society at all.

how will allowing gay marriage lead to the spreading of aids? That makes no sense at all. Also, there is no evidence that being gay is a mental illness.

I’ve been telling you why. for some reson you don’t want to see it. I already said that it’s unhealthy (mentally and physically) and allowing something like that to become something of a norm in society would only damage society and would not benifit it at all.
And I don’t think that gays are fit to adopt. (not because they won’t teach the same values as straight people, but because I know that it is a mental disorder . And having a child near a mentally ill person is harmful)

Well that is not known, so that is not a fact.

Alcoholism is a deadly disease…we let that go on. So we should ban every couple who has a deadly or genetic disease from getting married? Not only is that unprobable, but again (i’m not sure how many times i’m gonna have to say this) that is now how our country, USA, makes laws.

Those aren’t facts! That is an opinion! I want hard facts as to why letting gay marriage occur is detrimental to our society. There are none.

So you’re saying gays are inferior to straight people?

being gay was classifies by the AMA as a mental illness at one time, yet for soe reason they decide it was a “preferance” rather than a disorder. Whuch I do not agree with at all. You can not prefer one over the other. We are all born with a natural inclination to the opposite sex. Gay people are bon with an inclination to be attrackted to the same sex (while this is not natural, it is still imbedded in them…they did not wake up one day and decide that they liked one over the other)

“I know that you’ll say that it can be transmitted through heterosexual sex, but it is much more likely to be transmitted through homosxual sex no matter how safe it is.”

So are you only talking about gay men? Where are your statistics for this? In fact where are your statistics for anything you are saying. From what I understand it is transmitted through a certain kind of sex most often and there are gay and straight people that participate in it (I am not going to get graphic). In my personal opinion hetero marriage is such a joke now that I don’t really understand what people are protecting. Also about something said earlier in the thread, gay couples are not asking to be married in a church they are asking for the right to be seen by the law as married. Consider if your loved one became very ill. Even if you have been together 20 years if you are not married you are not family and your rights will be very restricted.

The only thing that would justify not allowing gay marriage is if you were able to prove gays were inferior to straights and therefore shouldnt be allowed the same rights

Key word being WAS. There’s a reason why it still isnt classified as a mental illness

Those are still just claims. They have not been medically proven in the slightest.

gays are not inferior, they are unfortunate enough to have that illness. While you may not think of it as so, it is…and was for a while until they decided that it wasn’t. It wasn’t an opinion before…it was a proven medical fact until about 10 years ago!

It was not proven medically at all! Don’t just pull “facts” out of the air. Show me textual evidence!

They also used to think that drilling holes into peoples heads cured them. What about the earth being flat…people used to think that was true. According to your logic since at one point they thought it it must be true. What about the witch trials? Should we still follow their thinking?

If they are not inferior then why don’t they deserve the same rights. If it really is a mental illness (doubt it) then why dont we make laws barring all people with mental illnesses from getting married?

it may have been stripped of it’s title as an “illness” but there is no evidence proving that it is a prefernce. A medical fact remains so even if it isn’t printed in a book any more.

Stuck , it was never shown to be an illness. In fact the reason they took it out was because they found reason to believe otherwise. How do you explain animals that participate in homosexual activities? Is nature disagreeing with nature?

If it really is a mental illness (doubt it) then why dont we make laws barring all people with mental illnesses from getting married?

care to anwser my question?

most people with mental illnesses (such as downs syndrome…etc) do not get married anyway. So why should this be any different?

okay guys, It’s obvious that we will never agree on anything at all. So lets just agree to disagree becasue I really do not know how to make you guys understand what I’m trying to say. We’re all entitled to our own opinions.
