How do Academic Standards/Appeal Committees work?

A successful appeal must do several things:

  1. show that you understand what went wrong
  2. show that you take responsibility for the academic failures
  3. show that you have a plan for future academic success
  4. in a broad sense, show that you are being honest with yourself and the committee

I have no idea how it works, but colleges want students who can be successful. Usually a student did poorly one semester, got probation, and then didn’t change anything and did poorly again. So they have to convince the college they have addressed the issue AND have a plan for success.
