How do California's afford homes

I hope you realize that your stats for San Fran include a lot of the poorer San Fran community, whereas your Ladue stats are about the equivalent of a wealthy (ier?) San Fran suburb. I mean, compare Ladue to say, Palo Alto, and see what you get.

Town and Country, Missouri home. $759,000

Palo Alto, California home. $760,000
http://foreclosureworld.homes.com/Content/ListingDetail.cfm?City=PALO%20ALTO&State=CA&Radius=0&FirstRec=13&OrderBy=price%3AD&Bedrooms=0&FullBaths=0&MinPrice=500000&MaxPrice=1000000&PriceRange=&AmenitiesList=&PropType=%20&TotalRecs=29&PropIdList=29093401,28171862,28628247,28651703,29067921,27646032&PropId=28171862

you’ll learn all this when you take economics (specifically macro)…for example the minimum wage in california is $6.75 but in Missouri, it’s $5.15, so everything from there is in proportion. ie: a teacher’s salary, etc. Also, can you tell me why most mcdonald’s in california don’t have the the dolllar menu anyone? But hey…in St. Loius they all have the dollar menu…EXACTLY.

We have a dollar menu in California. What can you get for a dollar at a McDonald’s in St.Louis?

Double Cheeseburger, McChicken Sandwich, Fries, Soft Drink, Snack Size Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait, Hot Fudge Sundae, 2 pies and a Side Salad.

Same here in Northern California.

Loans. Loans are the answer to everything.

It’s NOT worth it to live in San Bernardino county unless you want to live in the mountains, trust me. It’s NASTY. Smoggiest area, lots of crime, it’s in the desert, gets very hot (usually hovers over 100 perpetually between May and September), etc. I’m sure there are redeeming qualities, but since I live here (albeit in the mountains) I’m having a hard time thinking of any.

If you look, you can find what you want. You may have to stretch a bit (for example, the mountains down here are cheaper than most of CA, but they’re still a little on the high side: we got an AMAZING deal by buying this 4 bedroom, 3 bath house we’re living in at $225k; right now, without any enhancements, it would probably sell for $400k+), but you can find something. The trick is usually that you have to take a longer commute.

I agree to an extent with undecided, my family would rather live in the desert than closer to where my dad works which = long commute.

My dollar menu is exactly the same in Socal…trust me, I know ;)

my older brother got a 500 sq ft condo in Cali that is now worth $300k+

we are all extremely rich after sueing McDonalds

No you’re confusing it…My point was that your dollar goes farther in St. Louis than in California, but everything is in proportion.

California McDonald’s Franchise Eliminates Dollar Menu:
www.cnn.com/news/stories/mcdonalds

ok, ok that’s not a real story, but YOU U GET MY POINT. at the wendy’s in washington dc they didn’t have a dollar menu…AHH

I live in northern california… we just sold our home in lafayette for 1.4 million… bought it for 550k
