Other than D1 level, coaches can talk to him now. Has your son begun contacting any coaches?
In recruiting, students typically have two college lists going. One with schools where they would play their sport, one where they wouldnāt.
Your kid should take an ACT or SAT next summer. Recruits that have a test score after sophomore year can have an advantage. Let their level of sports talent drive the list, at least initially. What is their coach saying about the level they can play? Are they getting any interest from college coaches? Has he contacted any coaches? Etc.
Yes, heās been emailing footage etc . . . and has gone to some ID camps. D1 coaches definitely know who he is, which implies they have watched his footage. He was advised to ask coaches what division they see him playing in, and theyāve said D1, but heās wondering if a D3 school might have a better balance.
Heās talked to some D3 coaches.
He took PSAT and ACT this year and did well on both, particularly considering heās a freshman. Heās taken a handful of APās as well. So he does have some scores to show coaches.
He plans to retake the PSAT the next two years, and then do the ACT and SAT in junior year.
