The idea of biting doesn’t seem to bother me for some reason. My mind is able to rationalize that. It’s just a bite, but nothing that can really hurt me. I just can’t reason myself into stop being afraid altogether.

I think that I’ll ask the residence office to something about it. But I’m worried that they won’t really care.

I too say find a friend to relocate them! I am a big animal person, and I would love to help in a situation like that. I am sure that you have friends that would love to help, so that the ladybugs don’t get squashed or sprayed.

Ladybugs are rumored to bring good luck to those who co-habitate with them. I love them and always feel privileged when I find one in my home. I would second another poster above who advised you to recruit a friend or hall mate to help you place them elsewhere. They truly are harmless and are quite beautiful in my opinion.

Now stinkbugs are an entirely different story. They are the only bugs I will actually swat or flush. They are awful and come in droves.

This might help. Some good ideas here.

Many bugs are harmless, with the sole reason for human hatred against them being that they look disgusting.
I find ladybugs to be the same. The only difference is that most people don’t think they look disgusting.
Most of my friends live quite far, but there’s one girl in my corridor I could ask. I don’t know if she would relocate them though. Not many people would be bothered. She would probably just squash them.

Small update: When I came back today, I saw that the curtains were open. They were closed when I left, and the repairman (for a separate issue) probably opened them up when he stopped by. There were two “ladybugs” (or most likely, Asian beetles) in the top right corner of the window, quite close to each other (it’s quite cold again today, so I’m guessing that they’re huddling for warmth). I didn’t see any others on the window, and I don’t see any others around the room. I closed the curtain again. Cleaners are coming tomorrow, and I’ll probably ask them to get rid of them. They’ll probably squash them. Sorry to those of you who like ladybugs! But I’m taking any options I can get, even if it involves killing them.

After some Internet research, it seems that these ladybugs were in crevices in my window where I couldn’t see them all winter. Since the weather is starting to warm up, they’re becoming active again, and because my room’s been so warm, they’ve just been confused as to which was is outside. So hopefully no more will come inside since they’ll have no reason to this time of year.

I’ll go to my RA to talk to her about how to approach the residence office about this. Even with the bugs gone, I want any crevices or holes in the windows fixed so no more can get inside.

My daughter is also afraid of ladybugs and of all the rooms in our home it was her bedroom that always had them in the corners of the window. We also could never completely get rid of them until we had the windows replaced. I can appreciate phobias and fears and I truly empathize with you. If you can’t get rid of them I hope you can change rooms next year!

^^^Which is why I always offer to relocate any bugs for people - there is really no reason to hate them just because of the way they look (by the way, I AM actually creeped out by some bugs and have to fight through that).

I know I am not the only one that feels that way - especially on a college campus, I am willing to bet there are people who would want to help.

There aren’t many people in my dorms who I feel comfortable asking to remove the ladybugs. I don’t know most people that well. I just asked a girl in my corridor, and she said that it was too high for her to reach. I would have mentioned that I didn’t mind her standing on the table, but I didn’t want to sound like I was ordering her to get rid of it for me.
There’s another girl I also might be able to ask. We’ll see how that goes. Other then that, I’m not very close to anyone that lives around here.

I asked the cleaners to get rid of them this morning. There were about five. She didn’t really know what to do, but I gently insisted. She didn’t want to kill them. So then she asked me if it was okay to stand on the desk, and I said yes. So she got up on the desk and took the ladybugs into her hand and then left.

The window was ladybug-free for a couple of hours. I just got back from lunch, and there’s one. It looks like it’s trying to find its way outside.

I do not like bugs. Shoot, I’d be the one to kill them with 50 rolls of paper towels between my hand and them. I cannot stand being that close to them. Given my distaste for them, relocation is not an option. Permanent removal from my vacinity is.

Seal off any smack cracks. Triple seal your window and continually ask for treatments for your windows to stay bug free.

I have not had to deal with any bugs in my dorm. knocks on wood But if I did, I’d be investing in traps, sprays, and a bug zapper pronto.
