How do you decide what to wear to work, given it is a choice?

I wash bras after no more than 2 days usually. Even just hand wash. Always air dry them.

Athletic clothing obviously with each wear - except maybe exercise tights or my shorts.

Tops and jeans - when they don’t smell fresh - whether it has been one wear or 10!

Undies and socks daily. Bras, I do wash them after each wearing - I can get a little sweaty under there. Pants I’ll wear a few times. The shirts under the sweaters, every time I wear them. Sweater, if I spill (a real and present danger with me) or maybe after 5 wearings or just when they look like they need it. Usually they get dry cleaned.

I don’t care how superior and sophisticated some of you think Europe is - I think it’s gross to wear the same exact thing several days in a row.

I give my bras a chance to air out overnight while I’m sleeping, therefore I have no problem wearing mine 2 or 3 days in a row if appropriate for the shirt or blouse I’m wearing over top.

as a middle school student(at a school which had uniforms) I hated the concept of uniforms because it was anti individual choice. now I wish at least the shirt was a company logo polo type shirt. and a pair of my own long pants. I do not worry much about how I look (I am clean …as are my clothes) but I am not concerned with fashion or style.

I’ve been binge-watching old Mary Tyler Moore reruns and boy Mary’s work wardrobe looks so fresh and current. Color-blocked knits, silk jersey shirt dresses, cute A-line fit-and-flare styles --90% of her outfits would fit right in with today’s fashions and look fantastic! The other 10% – long ponte vests, short-sleeved sweaters over long-sleeved blouses, blouses with comical big collars – might be out of style now but they are due for a revival. She even does the nude pump! (But in a decidedly more sensible silhouette). Compared to Mary, the men look SO dated. Would live to hear others’ views.

I could binge watch MTM. That was my nickname when I was young and single in Mpls. I’m not perky now, but maybe I was back then. i did wear those short sleeve sweaters over long shirts. Thanks for the memories, but in general that classic look (wrap dresses, shirt dresses, fit and flare) have remained constant…they are just much easier to get now. Some of the Jill St. John, Escada, Diane Von Furstenberg stuff from the late 70s/early 80s i bought as a young woman is still fresh looking and still in my wardrobe I hate to admit – along with a pair of alligator pumps that my mother wore int he 50s LOL.

This can vary greatly by individuals depending on genetics and even one’s diet*.

Some people need to change their clothes daily and shower daily/multiple times a day even in the winter time due to an individual genetic predisposition towards generating strong BO daily even when diet isn’t a factor.

Others could get away with going a few days without showering or changing clothes even in the summer assuming diet isn’t a factor.

  • Had one college dormmate who developed exceedingly strong BO which had a stench similar to vomit due to his addiction to grilled cheese sandwiches with American processed cheese food slices. The issue went away once he stopped eating grilled cheese sandwiches for every meal and snack.

Apparently I’m an outlier in the brassiere department. But I don’t sweat much, don’t each American processed cheese food slices (ewwww – ever), and am very small breasted. I kind of figure that since I’m not generating much in the way of body fluids from my chest, I’m OK. I’m going to continue with my current schedule.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I rarely ever perspire (even in HI) and can generally have outfits worn several times before washing because I spilled something on it. My H and D have very sensitive noses and have never noticed anything. I think it makes garments and davrics last much longer. With bras, I rotate them and wash about 4 or so at a time. Those I also wear multiple times before hand washing. H and S perspire and need to wash their garments much more frequently. D also rarely perspires and can have quite a few wearings between washings. It is generally a spill of something on a garment that makes it need washing before any odor.

@VeryHappy

We can be outliers together!

I’m thinking it’s time to resurrect the “why is this a thread” thread.

If I were small chested, I’d either try to go without any bra or perhaps just a camisole or a tank top. As it is, I can’t do that comfortably.

I am not sure if this ever posted from a few days ago, as it was sitting in the “reply” box, and maybe we can talke about something other than body odor…
“On days I go into the office, I listen to the weather and decide what to wear. Tunic, leggings and low boots, dress and tights or whatever, if it’s cold.”

Anyone have any links to the leggings with boots and tunic look? It sounds very casual.

Something like this:

I do wear a knit dress with short or high boots.

OOH thats adorable, @oldfort. Actually have something similar.

Not sure what to say …I used to have to wear a lab coat.
Thank goodness. Covers a multitude of sins.
Kept extra pair of shoes in bottom desk drawer for meetings.
