Roads are generally paid with gasoline taxes. People usually buy
gasoline where it is cheaper near their homes or workplaces. Gasoline
is generally cheaper near the border with MA though more expensive
when you go up north. So those in MA buying gasoline in MA - are
they moochers when they drive through NH without paying gasoline
taxes?

We’re just talking about uninsured folks here.

The thing is that there are lots of services that are used by people
that aren’t paid for by the people using them. That’s pretty obvious.

I don’t know that various coping behaviors are taught - people do what they have to do. You’ve been poor and without insurance before, right? So you’d understand.

Oh, so its just the uninsured moochers who are running the tolls and using park services without paying for them. You asked if using roads or parks in another town was theft. (see your own post) . Were you just talking about the uninsured or are you just enjoying spining the merry go round some more.

People do what they need to do? If they need a hospital they can go to their own hospital in their own state. Otherwise they are being taught to cheat and suck at the teet of the neighbors who pay their taxes, and apparently for the care of the cheaters in NH too.

No one is confused, unless you are speaking for yourself. You have described cheaters and moochers in your state.
You gave the analogy about not paying for schools or roads or parks. Then when I responded you decided all of a sudden that we were only talking about the uninsured. Wazzamatta- cant accept that your examples can be dispelled?

You suggested that we take it up with the uninsured. They arent the ones here talking about their egregious behavior. You may try to spin things and parse posts to try to confuse, but it doesnt work.

In my state, the uninsured (often the working poor) pay a substantially higher percentage of their income in taxes, including support for roads, parks, schools, and hospitals than higher income folks with insurance. We have an extremely regressive tax system in our state. And because most are renters, they pay indirectly through their rents for real estate taxes as well.

mini-
NH doesnt have sales or income tax. Tax seems to be limited to these areas:
Interest & Dividends Tax
Gambling Winnings Tax
Inheritance and Estate Tax
Business Profits Tax
Business Enterprise Tax
Communication Services Tax
Electricity Consumption Tax
Meals and Rentals Tax
Tobacco Tax
Real Estate Transfer Tax
Timber Tax
Gravel Tax
State Education Property Tax
Utility Property Tax
Local Property Tax
Property Tax Rates

I have been chatting with a friend who practices in NH and MA. She says she has not heard of many, if any, border hoppers skipping to MA for care, though she agrees its better in MA than NH, and suspects that if there are any, there is probably some method for MA to recoup funds from NH’s “uninsured care pool” or whatever their term is. She also said if this was a true issue with the NH uninsured using or overusing the MA ER’s she’d have heard about it, and she hasn’t . She has contacts in the media and will ask around. So its probably overblown.

We of course for years had whole busloads of folks going (actually from right near my office) on three-and-half-hour trips to Canada. The physicians there would see them privately, and then they could get their prescriptions filled at much lower cost. Kept lots of them alive. Less need now that ObamaCare has partially filled in the “donut hole”. (Don’t mistake me: no great fan of ObamaCare here.)
