@Lizard - welcome to my world! Every time I tell people I’m from West Virginia, people say something like, “Gee, I have a cousin in Roanoke” or something like that. You’d be surprised at how many educated, articulate people don’t understand that West Virginia is a separate state! And living in Charleston makes it even worse - I used to make airline reservation clerks read back everything to me twice to make sure I wasn’t going to Charleston, SC!

That could be because all the people from NJ are moving there. :)

I think Missouri is the dumbest state in the nation. The people there can’t even pronounce the name of their state correctly. They think the state ends with an “a”/ “ah” sound. I am quite certain “i” does not make an “ah” sound.

Thats the way I pronounce it & Im from Seattle.

Maryland is usually associated with DC, I wonder how the western residents feel about being ignored? Why go to Alaska when Washington state is so much more convenient and has the same great seafood (Ivers is great)? You have to think about how many states begin with M when MO stands for Missouri, pronounced Missourah. Howcum Louisville, KY and St Louis, MO have different pronunciations of the same word? They’re both in the same general part of the country.

Florida benefits greatly from the northern infusions of ideas. That includes many Midwesterners, especially on the Gulf side. Some day I’ll find out why Tampa has streets named Nebraska Ave and Floribraska as well as Florida.

So much fun to be had with our states.

By and large, no one thought anything of Michigan.

And New York and California having the best food? What? Clear answer was Louisiana. Who voted for something other than New York or New Jersey as their least favorite, those two were the obvious answers. Bloomberg’s also got enough crazy to outweigh anything you can see in the rest of the country.

Clearly, they didn’t ask people from Ohio :D

“Clear answer was Louisiana.”

I agree. Though we do have Thomas Keller which gives us at least 5,768 extra food points and puts us in a close second.

Or people who used to live there and left…

In Tampa, Florida Av and Nebraska Av are the old main north-south highways (U.S. 41 & Alt. U.S. 41) through downtown Tampa before I-75. Florida Av is where Luke first got arrested for stealing parking meters in Tampa after getting drunk in a Florida Av bar in Donn Pearce’s original book ‘Cool Hand Luke’.

Good ol’ Texas…among the best AND the worst in most categories.
