<p>Thankfully, Southwest moved into Greenville/Spartanburg airport, providing some competition/cheaper flights to kids from Clemson. But it still is 45 miles away and requires a stop somewhere to get to the West Coast. Prior to that goskid 2 had a choice of 1 1/2 hours to Charlotte or 2 hours to Atlanta…but then it was non stop.</p>
<p>Notre Dame does have airport nearby in South Bend, with a fair amount of flights. It’s a 19 minute flight to O’Hare, and then non stops to West Coast. Or…goskid 1 had option of taking bus from campus to Midway for a non stop home. Bus could be 1 1/2 hours or more with weather…but sometimes the more reliable option…because in bad weather, that flight out of South Bend was cancelled.</p>
<p>Told them that in their next life, please pick a school a non-stop flight away 
as travel home for the Holidays was generally an all day deal, each way…but no regrets.</p>
