<p>It depends on your major. Any kind of engineering major is really difficult. The hard sciences such as Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemsitry are also fairly difficult. These majors are hard at just about any school you go to though. </p>
<p>The competition among biology and chemistry majors will be a little tougher because premed students have to take required bio and chem classes for med school and they have to do well in them.</p>
<p>Most other majors aren’t really that difficult, and U of I is not really known for having a significantly competitive atmosphere. However, I’m sure you could find a few overly competitive kids in most large classes. But the vast majority of students either don’t care enough are open to working with each other in study groups.</p>
