It depends entirely on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend. There is plenty of housing, but realize that State College is an owners’ market, so finding a nice single is pricy.

I have know people in recent years to get by on $300 a month or so, but I would not recommend that. I would say $450-600 sharing an apartment, or $800+ for a single. Per month, year round.

Sure, many do - PSU is notoriously unfriendly to student-owned cars, and most of what you will want is within walking distance. Expect to either bum a ride or take the bus if you want access to a “big box” store or full-service grocery.

Not my thing, but I think there is decent availability - this is a popular dietary selection among the college community, and there are at least a few restaurants and groceries with a decent selection, although you may find yourself more reliant on Wegmans, which is not especially walkable.
