AnnoyingGirl, that’s why I recommended taking at least one class at CCSF so you would still have priority for spring. I know there are several one unit “classes” that are basically a one or two day field trip that you write a report on- they don’t happen till later in the semester so you still have plenty of time to register for them.

In case anyone cares for the latest update. I don’t know how much more proof someone would need to see that CCSF may very well be a defunct institution.

EDIT: My favorite part -
So basically, he’s saying this is a good thing because he knew that if he waited long enough to do his job, then someone would eventually do it for him and hand him all the recommended items on a silver platter, and then just hope it’s not too late to enact those recommendations?

Thanks for the update Turtlerock. I wonder where the influx of students would be headed if CCSF does close down.

@Caldud, have you really? Was it during the past year? Or have you been hearing about failing students from UC Davis for many years now?

Um, for me personally, I’ve always had a very negative attitude. During first quarter, I had a very tough (evil) professor for a workload class. He didn’t curve but gave really hard tests. I failed his first midterm, so I studied my butt off for the second midterm. But it turns out that his midterms are cumulative, which means that he put exact problems from the first midterm. I got nearly every question that was supposed to be on the second midterm right, but still failed the test since half of them was from the first midterm. I got really demoralized at that point. I had never put so much effort into failing a test. After that, failing just became the norm. I failed that class, as did half of the class, which i later found out.

During the second quarter, I had to take my chem placement test to get into general chem. I failed by one point. I beat myself over it. I was sooo upset. In retrospect, i was so silly. It’s just a placement test. I could take it however many times I want. But i procrastinated on the internet to rid of my bad feelings. My negative attitude made it hard for me to bounce back up. Addiction to the internet got to me soon, and I failed two more classes.

Third quarter, I took on 19 units to maintain my financial aid eligibility. Though I tried, I was overwhelmed. I failed two more classes.

Why so many people fail at UC Davis is that the science and math departments are known for being hardcore. I had Biology professor third quarter was a total ******bag (didnt curve, gave impossible tests, didn’t teach from the book, didn’t care). My math teacher from first quarter, to an extend, set me off on a downward spiral, but to be fair, probably wouldn’t have happened if I had a better work ethnic from the start and went to class and office hours more often. But i feel like that wasn’t best way to teach a class of freshmen coming out of high school.

The biggest reason is probably because I’ve heard about how smart people there are, and I just felt like I couldn’t get good grades there from the start. I felt like I got in by just pure luck and chance, and that I wasn’t as smart as most of the students there, so that thought really made me unmotivated.

Caldude, I’m assuming you attend/have attended UCB. What is the failing rate there compared to UC Davis?

Interesting… There was a similar situation where Compton Community College lost it’s acreddiation so a nearby CCC (el camino) took it over and kept it’s accreditation by becoming a branch of El Camino College.
