how hard is it to switch into a impacted major at a uc?

Clearly none of you are literary majors or you would have laughed at the absurd pretentiousness that my last post ended with. Or maybe it wasn’t funny. And nujabes, nobody cares about answers, it’s the questions that matter most. The truth is always a multiplicity. Then again, that statement claims that truth is always something, which in itself is not a statement for multiplicity, but for uniformity. Still again, who’s to say uniformity is better than multiplicity, or pure dichotomy for that matter.

Actually vintij, on the contrary, I laughed pretty hard throughout. However, I just read it now, and I could not have responded earlier. You do not have to wait a full quarter. As long as you have your prereqs done or IP, you may petition for the major that you really want in your first quarter. I don’t know when you officially become a (insert major), but you can definitely petition for it in the first quarter/semester.

How about double majoring in an impacted major? You’re not technically switching so shouldn’t it be allowed? Seems like sort of a loophole (albeit one with a lot of extra work involved).

for ucla, to double with an impacted major you will have to be directly admitted to the impacted major first.

That makes sense, but how about for two impacted majors like econ and political science?

i think the econ department stricter so you’d probably have to do something along the lines of getting into econ first and then doing well in the upper div poli sci classes so that the poli sci department will let you in.

god cares! and he’s also a jealous god!!!

@emilsinclair9 - same here.

" nobody cares about answers, it’s the questions that matter most. "
lol, really? i wonder what response you’d get in a philo class.

i agree wiff u on some areas.
socartes believed that most important thing about humans beings is that they ask questions. he also said that real moral knowledge existed and was worth pursing for its own sake.

Beliefs are like relationships. Some are blind, some long term ones have to be nurtured, but some are convictions that are like passionate one night stands. It’s like a song, when you first hear it you make an opinion of that first time, then later it grows on you, and eventually dies if you hear it too much. Beliefs grow on you, die on you, and if you agree, or believe even apart of what someone says, it means you responded to that argument in your own head to convince yourself that whatever this is, it felt good, or it brought out some type of emotion. That’s what the media does, they bring out the emotion all day everyday, and eventually some of it will stick to you. And the beauty is, that just one form of argument (the most popular in media and religion), but there are an infinite number of ways to subtly persuade people, whether you make sense with pure logic and facts, or you make no sense and aim for other aspects of human nature.
