How hard is the Physics SAT Subject Test

It’s one I’m taking this coming year. I’m worried about it. It’s pretty much a necessity that I get a very good score on it. How hard is it, and what can I do to prepare?

If you’ve taken AP Physics B or C (both mechanics and E/M), and done well in either course, you should be ready. Or even if you’ve done well in a regular physics course.

How hard it is depends on how prepared u are. In this test, u will be primarily dealing with theory and generics. Unless u truly understand ur materials and know how to appropriately apply them, u will probably struggle with a lot of problems asked. U should try to take a practice test to get a feel for what’s going to be on there. Good luck.

I took honors physics as a junior and am taking AP Physics this coming year. I should be reasonably prepared due to those classes.

If you’re taking the test after your AP class you should be reasonably prepared, but it mostly depends on how well you understand the material. I assume you’re taking it early senior year though. I’ve never taken honors physics before, so I’m not too sure how well that would prepare you for the test. I took the test after Physics B so it may be more difficult for you. As for what you can do to prepare, buy a Princeton Review book? I found it helpful. But what probably helped me the most were the practice tests I took because after several tests, it’s easy to see what types of questions are often recycled. If I don’t remember incorrectly, the PR practice tests may have been a bit easier than the real thing, so you may want to supplement them with some other source, like sparknotes. As a side note, Barron’s wasn’t helpful for me at all, in case you were considering that.
