<p>Some of the topics my college essays were about: extraterrestrial life, lunch meats, almost getting mugged in Spain, stupid things people say in my town, David Bowie</p>
<p>I got into 9 tier 1/top 20 schools, including both the best journalism and creative writing programs in the country. I am not in the top 10% of my class. My school’s valedictorian did not get into an ivy league. I got a 2 on my AP Chem exam last year.</p>
<p>So yeah, I really would like to think my essays helped me get into decent schools. I have some good awards too, but apart from that I don’t think much else on my applications stood out.</p>
