It may vary with year too. I know a 2019 female swimmer who was told 50/50. She ended up at Princeton. I suppose it’s also possible the coach pull has gotten stronger as they’ve lost some excellent students (and athletes) to schools willing to give an almost guarantee. But it’s also very much a fit school, so wouldn’t be surprised if they want to make sure the student is really 100% all in on MIT. Best of luck that you hear good news soon!

since I was about 8-10 years old, but honestly I know people much faster than me who started at 12 or 13. As long as you were athletic as a kid, starting swimming in that age range and getting success is very possible!
