how is humanities core?

People like to complain about it a lot, but (with a few exceptions) most of it really isn’t that bad. I actually liked some of it a lot. This is especially true if you like writing at all. I think your experience is somewhat dependent on the quality of your section leader.

If I recall correctly, you do three writing assignments each quarter. Each assignment (except for the final research paper) is only about five or six pages, which for a writing class really isn’t a lot. The focus, then, is on the process of writing and revision. The key to doing well is constantly taking new drafts of each paper to your professor’s office hours. Most of them will work with you until you have a pretty good final draft.

Also, I’d recommend that you really make an effort to keep up with the reading, because it can be a little overwhelming at the end of the quarter if you don’t.
