Such great news, pt3! Congrats!

wow p3T, Brooklyn! Both of my grandparents lived in Brooklyn, one set in Sheepshead Bay in a rowhouse, the other in a Brighton Beach apartment. We used to visit often when we lived in Washington D.C., going back and forth between the two.

Congratulations, P3t!

“I did not see a lot of business opportunities that would cause a lot of demand for housing.
I havent been to Maine in a long time, but I have the same question for areas of Maine.”

My niece’s in laws have a gorgeous, architect designed, home in Falmouth, right on the golf course of the Portland CC, which is on the ocean. They just took it off the market. Their only hope is that someone moves to Maine from out of state who has a lot of money.

Class, fantastic news about the open house! Fingers crossed.

And yes, people are moving to Brooklyn, lots of young ones! But when you have a few kids and need to think about schools and what it costs to send them to private school for 12 years, the suburbs look mighty inviting.

P3T - that’s awesome, both for buying the house and having your kids live with you. When we were looking for an apartment in NYC, we offered to buy a studio next to our apartment for D1. We got a very decisive No. Brooklyn is a hot place now, sometimes more expensive than Manhattan. What I don’t envy is the renovation part. I only like watching it on HGTV.

Thanks emilybee and p3t! Yes I’m hoping our buyer has some time to reflect and decide our house is right for them. I’ll keep you posted.

Congrats, p3t. I wish you’d call the guy who remodels apartments to make the rental space more lucrative. Then we’d all get to watch the process!

And he’s really cute, too. :p

p3t your townhouse arrangement sounds really interesting, and a wonderful way to be close to family. Congrats on snagging the right place for you.

Real estate prices in my area continue to be insane. A house went on the market a couple of weeks ago and sold within a few days for $600K over asking. Another house around the corner from me was open last weekend, and I heard the agent say she thought over 100 people had come through on the first day.

Silicon Valley…amazing…

" A house went on the market a couple of weeks ago and sold within a few days for $600K over asking"

600,000 is quite a bit more than the average priced home in the US.

Yet, in East Bay, just less than half an hour away, You still can buy houses less than 30% of 600K.
