Just heard today from a couple of parties…

Real estate is on fire in Marin and parts of Sonoma County.

Yesterday…I heard that parts of the east bay are doing very well…

A realtor told my boss that he has clients that can pay cash up to 3 million. He thinks it is Facebook money.

In Minneapolis…investors are trying to buy condos and rent them out.

The foreigners are loving Miami again.

I know that the Case-Schilling index wasn’t that positive today…but I don’t care…because the index lags. :)

Pretty soon…somebody is going to post here and say, “I put my house on the market and received multiple bids. I accepted an overbid”.

And we’ll be hearing ads for ISoldMyHouse.com on the radio again.

:)

There are many more housing ads on the radio, so I have been told. Don’t listen to the radio much.

That’s an everyday occurrence in Toronto.

I spoke to a friend last week who is a real estate agent in SC. The market there has picked up tremendously in the past six months and prices are rising in her area.

A guy in Colorado has been trying to sell for two years and is now in escrow.

I just showed my partner a condo I liked that sold in one day…

He says I was nuts not to buy it.

My excuse is I did not see it until it was sold. Geez…the market just turned. :)

We don’t live in Toronto. :)

Ok…I saw this today…

I think Schiller is a little too negative; although, I don’t like a lot of suburbia either…

[Shiller: Housing Has ?Chance? to Bottom But Suburban Prices May Not Recover ?In Our Lifetime? | Daily Ticker - Yahoo! Finance](<a href=“http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/shiller-housing-chance-bottom-suburban-prices-may-not-161914444.html]Shiller: ”>Shiller: Housing Has “Chance” to Bottom But Suburban Prices May Not Recover “In Our Lifetime” )

Home prices in January were flat compared to the prior month, suggesting stabilization in the market, but home values fell for the fifth-straight month and prices dropped to their lowest levels since 2003
How do they compute home value if not by using price?

We need a ton more middle-class jobs. There are only so many tech jobs to go around and only so many people that can do them. I would be happy to see the number of foreclosures down, even if it means lower prices.

Then how is it that “prices” could be flat from the previous month and yet “values” have dropped for 5 straight months?

They use a moving average…
I agree about the middle class jobs…

[More Investors, Vacationers Snap Up Homes - WSJ.com ](<a href=“More Investors, Vacationers Snap Up Homes - WSJ ”>More Investors, Vacationers Snap Up Homes - WSJ )

Investors and Vacationers are buying up homes…the typical homebuyer is having problems…

Here is some good news:
According to CoreLogic, an estimated 65,000 completed foreclosures were reported in the United States last month versus 71,000 in January and 66,000 in February 2011.

The number of completed foreclosures for the 12 months ended Feb. 29 was 862,000. The study further determined that about 3.4 percent of all homes with a mortgage — 1.4 million residences — were in the foreclosure inventory as of February.

Is it a sign of housing recovery? who knows…?

Our realtor says the market here is picking up. My next door neighbor and I sold our houses within two weeks of each other after only four to six weeks on the market. Our due diligence date has come and gone. We’ve done the repairs the inspector suggested. Now, we’re counting the days until closing (4/26) and trying to clean out 23 years worth of “stuff” from our house. We’re moving to a much smaller rental house in three weeks. Give me strength:)

My old neighborhood has had 2 sales last week, one was listed for 6 months, the other a few homes away was listed for a week…

Yup, some parts of the California are still devistated while others are in the sellers market. It will even out in few years.

All the cheap houses in DW’s home town have been sold. If you want a modern 3BR 2BA home with 2,300 SF you’re gonna have to pony up $79,000 … unless of course you can negotiate a better price!

You can buy a modern 3 br 2 ba place for 79,000?

wow… 79K for a 2300 sf house!

I am buying a crummy 1000sf house in a below mediocure neighborhood for about double that with a fireplace that has already fall apart.

In Palo Alto, that 1000sf house with 8000sf land will be sold for over $1M with 86 bidders.
