According to Ms Sun, UCI was actually at full capacity. So they pushed the waitlist back til June 1st because they are expecting to lose some SIRs. So they will definitely accept students off the waitlist. It will probably just be very little.

I can’t imagine that UCI was actually at full capacity when it seems that most High schools had only single digits actually SIR’ing there. Well At least for sure it is definitely not a repeat of 2013

@tired567 There are over a 1,300 high schools in California. Let’s say on average, each school sends about 5 kids to UCI each year. That’s already 6,500 kids, not including out of state students.

hello guys I am a transfer applicant so here is my situation. got accepted from UC Merced, CSUN. waitlist on irvine. Irvine send me that waist option and i am on the waitlist and they will notify me the decision by June 30th. UCM wants me to put SIR by June 1st. CSUN is july 1st . Do I need to pay deposit when I put the SIR for UC? I will put SIR to UCM if I don’t get into the irvine. is it a good idea?

Heyo, fellow transfer! The thing is, yes, you can SIR at UCM, however, you would need to pay the deposit. If Irvine does accept you, you can withdraw your SIR and go there instead, but as you are fully aware, you will be losing your deposit. I’d suggest SIRing to UCM first if you have the money to spare as the status of UCI’s waitlist for transfers is a bit unclear this year.
