How Likely is it that I receive merit-based aid at these schools?

@bobwallace I’ve always been curious how accurate some of those reported numbers are. Is there any outside entities that check that?

The reason I ask is that GWU makes little mention of number of awards/amounts on the merit page…very vague. If they gave a lot away, you’d think they’d be more forthcoming. And, I would think we’d see more posts here.

Can any of the above be dept awards? And how many are frosh? Are any of them talent? It just seems strange that they would be generous but be so vague on their webpage.

@tigerrocks13 I’m not sure that is true. Most of their aid is need-based.

It looks like the criteria is:

academics
art
ROTC
music
theater

I wonder what the breakdown is.

Athletics and ROTC are not counted on merit aid numbers. If you read the GW forum there are tons of folks reporting $15,000, $20,000, and $25,000 per year merit awards.

Even with $25,000 in merit aid…that still leaves a balance of about $40,000 a year. GWU is very pricey.
