NMF, what is that?
Itâs an acronym.
This is blatant plagiarism and would get a student expelled from a university. Admissions are no different.
That guy is probably scamming you.
The best place to start for an essay coach (which is fine to use in the process) is at your local school. Ask counselors and parents if they have recommendations. Otherwise you can search online, but generally, word of mouth is best. Also CC has free essay revising which can be helpful for a few essays, but definently not all of them if you go forward with the 40+ schools.
So many people hire people to write though? I think based on this threads suggestions we will look for an essay coach instead. We are immigrants so we donât really understand the US system. Apologies.
Our school literally has no resources. Maybe Fivrr or Upwork or just googling? We have no connections really to people who understand the college admissions landscape.
as someone who applied to 30 schools and is now getting decisions back, i find myself receiving acceptances/waitlists/rejections and thinking âoh. well that school was never really a top contender for me anyway.â
only apply to those top contenders, if only for the money youâll save on application fees
Yep, me too. My stack of acceptance letters is great, but when I look at some of these schools I ask myself, why did I apply there.
The U.S. college systems expect their students to be honest. Start there.
I canât believe a parent would condone blatant dishonesty (having someone else write essays for your kid is dishonest).
Perhaps your family would benefit from taking an ethics courseâŠall of you. Probably one offered at your local community college.
I was planning a sincere respond until I saw this.
Try and find someone in your local area first. Itâs better to do in person that online in my opinion. If you find someone you are interested in and they have a website, you can post the link here and we can help you determine if they are legitimate or not. There are lots and lots of scam essay/college admission coaches out there.
youâll have better luck, anyway, if you take the time to craft individual essays well than if youâre reusing the same essay 1000 times or having to bang out dozens in one sitting to stay on top of 42 deadlines
I think a real question here is does your daughter NEED an essay coach? You want a prestigious school, and thereâs nothing wrong with that, but if your daughter (Iâm assuming) has the grades, the ECs and the test scores to get into a prestigious school then she might be fine writing her own essays and simply asking an English teacher to look them over.
Edit: or the service here on CC
Or the volunteers here on CC in the essay review section.
Why not double down and hit the next 42? Especially with a writer!
Because we wanted to apply to 42 schools we thought it would be hard with a writer/coach.
somehow I think April fools day came a bit early - this post stinks, imo.
so many top colleges have similar prompts though, but I think we will try to bring it under 30.
Before any essay work begins, you need to work on getting the school list finalized. We can definently help you with that if you provide the full list and a full, detailed description of what you are looking for in a college and what you can afford.
I certainly think itâs excessive. It stems from a misguided belief that USNWR rankings predict success of graduates of the respective institutions. Reach doesnât mean better. It probably just means far more expensive. What major?
