How many words are required for NMF essay?

How many words are required for NMF essay? It doesn’t say on website, or I missed it.

Thanks!

More than 600- I considered posting my common application essay, and it fit.

That’s a good idea :)

Is there a specific essay prompt? My son hasn’t received his information yet and would love to know if he has to write another essay.

^ Same here. My D’s counselor took a week off for moving. She could not catch her for the notification before her vacation started on 9/12.

Your daughter’s counselor took vacation starting September 12th??!!!? Seriously? wow.

On the official [thread=1365011]FAQ for PSAT…[/thread], @Descartesz posted last year’s prompt, and no one refuted that it is different this year.

[post=16364369]@Descartesz’s post about last year’s prompt[/post]

Yes, the prompt for the essay is the same…

2014 Student Essay:
“To help the reviewers get to know you, describe an experience you have had, a person who has influenced you, or an obstacle you have overcome. Explain why this is meaningful to you. Use your own words and limit your response to the space provided.”

I have another question, Is this application like a paperwork? that means if we hand in everything on time and no bad words in essay, we’ll be finalists?

Thanks :)

cool5s…no, you are not automatically a finalist if everything is turned in on time. You have to have a qualifying SAT score, a good recommendation from your school, good grades…3.5 GPA and no more than 1 or 2 Cs. However, most people move from NMSF to NMF.

Thanks, Soonermom95
I’m all set for GPA and SAT, and my counselor likes me, but thanks for mention it.

Write a good essay, too. I doubt you have to be brilliant, but if your grammar and punctuation have problems, or if your point is hard to follow, that could be bad. If you know you’re a strong writer, then I suspect you’re OK. If not, ask your favorite English teacher to suggest corrections.

Great. I guess my D can simply modify some of the essays from college applications for that. I guess the word limit is 750 based on the other thread.

My D finally got a folder from her counselor yesterday. She is going to merge two college application essays together for this one.

Isn’t it a character count limit, not a word count?

^ According to the other thread linked above, there is also a character limit with a very strange number.
