<p>AP was started by the Ivies, to better prepare incoming freshman. Most of the quasi-Ivies do the same thing as the Ivies. This just about covers top 20 schools. If you are not planning to get into top 20 schools AP is no big deal. GPA, and SAT scores should do the job.</p>
