Will being a USNCO National Exam Nominee and ILC qualifier in HOSA help me much in selective admissions?
Like to which colleges?
Congratulations on your accomplishments!
How about if you do a chance me/match me thread and give folks here a complete picture of what will be included on your college applications.
@Mwfan1921 will these things be helpful in and of themselves?
I think yes, they will help - particularly in the context of a set of STEM ECs
They are fine ECs, which will serve to show interest and capability in STEM. Whether or not they might ‘help’ in selective college admissions, I can’t say. Academic stats (GPA, rigor) and test scores are relatively more important.
Chance me for Cornell
My Stats as of now are:
4.43 GPA current SAT 1440 but studying to get above 1500
15 APs by Senior year 8 so far (I’m not reporting french and lang though)
Awards: HOSA 1st place dental terminology, USNCO National Exam Nominee, NHS, AP Scholar w distinction, top 100 in local math team rankings
ECs: mainly just XC and Track (captain), did swim team freshman and sophomore year, I’ve shadowed professors, Concert Band in school and symphony outside (clarinet) teacher assistant at a non-profit for kids, and hopefully publishing a paper
also the teaching job was paid and I also taught at Kumon
Can you do a chance me. At a minimum what is your unweighted gpa. 4 for A, 3 for B, 2 for C - divided by # of classes.
You’re right, you likely need to be over 1500 - their 25th percentile is 1510 per the CDS.
Either way you’ll find some great schools. Best of luck.
4.0, my school does A- and A+ so on the transcript it’s 3.88 with mostly As and A-s, I haven’t got many A+s. How much will this hurt.
Thanks
Could you please do a chance me/match me thread? It will contain all the pertinent information and will be a lot easier to read.
Ok. I’m new to this platform. lol.
No - all As are 4, all Bs are 3. +_ doesn’t count.
Nonetheless you likely need a better test for Cornell.
What major ?
Public Health at CALS (out of state)
Lots of great schools for Pub Health so no matter your test, find match and safeties. I assume u can afford Cornell.
It’ll be expensive obviously but my parent said if I can get into a t20 its fine. The thing with my matches is they’re all really expensive and probably not worth it. Do I have a shot at Umich, UCs, UToronto or McGill?
OP created a Chance Me so please continue in that thread.
