how often do you eat in college? (and wat do u eat?)

I cook everyday 2 times a day usually unless I’m out already. I don’t like already made meals or the bentos/onigiri they sell in japan because I don’t like heating premade food… (I mean I’ll grab it if i’m in a hurry but). I Also don’t like cold rice so… I tend to make every meal and I usually don’t do too much left overs.

I snack on candy and 1 ‘bad’ snack at least a day… that’s about bad as I go though, usually I live on fresh fruits as my snack choices + some peanut butter + air popped popcorn.

I dun really know how often I eat, usually every 2 hours or so. I eat a lil bit but snack on little things pretty often apart from the meals.

usually
breakfast -
yogurt
peanut butter
cereal
coffee
apple

snack maybe.

lunch-
some kind of sauce/condiment + protein + carb + veggie combo.
candy~
tea/coffee of some sort

snack-
sometimes some fiber cereal.

dinner-
about same as dinner
snack as dessert
tea/coffee

snack.

I also make my own espresso… and have my own milk frother so I make my own cappuccino too >_<

I don’t like instant foods in general and premade sauces… I tend to work from scratch so I can make more combos. I had like 5 instant meals in my freezer last sem and I barely ate them… (they were emergency stash but…)

I have a 14 meal plan but usually use 7-10 meals, as i leave most weekends and dont have time to eat- my school has selective dining times that just dont fit with my schedule. Today i had one meal.

I only use my meal plan three or four times a week. I make english muffins and sandwiches in my room otherwise.

At the moment I have homemade vegan mac and cheese and salad with roasted pumpkin seeds. :D

^^^That’s just messed up.

in response to Pinkstuffz lol

I am kind of in the same situation. The only cafeteria close enough for me to get to between classes and still have time to get around on time is only open certain hours, so I usually eat a snack in my room at lunchtime and then just dinner, and some days I don’t eat dinner if I have meetings in the evening. And all the cafeterias have limited weekend hours.

Christ that’s terrible, there’s gotta be a law that says cafeterias on college campuses should be open till at least… 9.

^Well, that’s what tupperware is for. My dining hall closes around 7:30, so to ward off starvation, I come prepared with a backpack filled with several bowls.

And I don’t leave 'til every single one of them is full. Hunger is no joke.

And to answer OP’s question, I eat as often as I can. Basically, I have breakfast, a midmorning snack, lunch, a midafternoon snack, dinner, nighttime munchies, and perhaps an early morning apple if I wake up before 5 a.m. (which is most days, anyway). Surprisingly enough, I have not gained much weight, but then again, my eating habits are not too different from what they were in high school. :)

We are not allowed to take food out of the cafeteria. :frowning:

And now I think I have a cavity and refuse to eat until I can find time to get it fixed. boo.

^That’s ******** too. These are universities not ****ing prisons, they shouldn’t have restrictions like that.

i eat once or twice a day (breakfast or lunch, and dinner, except on weekends when i sometimes only eat brunch) with maybe a handful of roasted almonds or goldfish.

for breakfast (days i have morning classes):
eggs (scrambled or omelette). necessary because it’s basically the only protein i get here.
banana
coffee/OJ

for lunch (days i don’t have morning classes):
a sandwich & a cup of vegetable soup OR
slice of pizza and salad.

dinner:
soup and salad OR
pizza and salad OR
pasta and salad OR
vegan burger and salad OR
tuna wrap

i throw mixed vegetables in there sometimes. the occasional cereal. i’d eat more protein but the tofu/seitan/tempeh here are gross. i almost always only drink water throughout the rest of the day other than coffee and OJ with breakfast.

I’m supposed to eat 9 meals a week, but I typically end up using only 5-6 meals. What a waste. In the cafeteria, I eat a tiny bit of the main entree (but usually I choose the vegetarian option, idk why) and a generous serving of dessert. (´∀`) Outside of the cafeteria, my diet consists of sweets. JUST SWEETS. Haha. Cakes, pastries, chocolate, cookies, pudding, etc… (‐^▽^‐) Sweets~!! Lol, it’s a miracle that I’m not fat~ Well, I guess that’s because I actually eat very little.

Breakfast:
Cereal

Mid-morning munchies if I’m hungry:
Coffee or tea and a donut

Lunch:
Usually whatever the value meal at the cafeteria is (usually some sort of sandwich or something), sometimes I go to the food court if I’m lazy

Late-afternoon snack:
If I’m hungry, usually go to Starbucks and just get a milk-heavy drink, that seems to fill me up especially if I have a smoke with it lol

Dinner:
Whatever dad cooks up, or pizza or Chinese

Only one I pay for is that late afternoon one (unless you count paying with my meal plan). See, commuting from home has benefits!

The food in my cafeteria is better and more accessible than the food at home. lol. My mom doesn’t even decide whether or not she is going to cook until 7or 8pm (at which time she needs to go to the grocery store and actually cook before we get to eat), only cooks two or three nights a week, will only grocery shop for what she intends to cook, and I am not allowed to bring my own groceries into the house-- not even my almond milk when I am allergic to the real thing. :frowning: She is a food nazi.

I’m not allowed either.

But I make it work anyway. Surreptitiousness can come in handy here.

That would be really hard the way the cafeteria I eat in is set up. Plus it’s super tiny.

im a short scrawny little **** that never ate enough my whole life because my mom would make either not much food (we are a small people) or bland boring food that i got bored with

ive been counting calories as i go to eat (all you can eat cafeteria) and i eat about 2000 calories a day which is good. it generally has good food… pasta, pizza, some vegetarian dish, burgers and grilled foods. the only problem is when they have steak (rarely), they cook it medium well and its terrible

theres honetsly not much to take out. you’re allowed to take out an issues stainless steel water bottle of liquid, but ive been putting cereal in it at lunch and milk at dinner to have cereal the next morning. i also started taking tupperware and bring out a sandwich and cookies. there’s generally not much that would be good reheated or the portions arent big enough no not keep coming back and people looking suspicious of you

Last year I was required to be on the 21 meals per week meal plan at Vandy… LOL. Big lol at that. This year I have to be on the 14 meals per week plan. We get $3.10 rollover money for each meal we miss and that money can be spent at various restaurants… there’s a great sushi/japanese restaurant, Friday’s, Papa John’s, Chili’s, Mediterranean Cuisine, Starbucks, a Thai restaurant, ummm… etc. So really I spend like half of my meals on fruit cups of peaches or on these awesome yogurt parfaits with fresh berries and honey granola and on Simply juices for like… random snacking and stuff. The other half I don’t spend at all but I use the rollover money to eat at a restaurant for grilled chicken and rice and blah everywhere. Not bad since I really only need one meal a day and some snacks.
