how often do you/will you be using microwave in dorm room?

This reminds me of college tours… Fordham College doesn’t allow microwaves in their dorms due to an antiquated (I’d say antediluvian) electrical system that can’t handle the potential peak load if they did. Talk about a dorm room downer… and a pretty big minus for the college, IMHO.

First tell him to bring a fridge.

then just bring the microwave and put it near your side of the room. he has no right to throw it out and you should be fine.

Haha, I was a hot chocolate queen when I lived in a dorm. I bought those huge industrial size packages of hot chocolate from those warehouse stores and stocked up.

At my old college, they used to trick students into revealing they had microwaves (which weren’t allowed outside of the common kitchen). I don’t know if other colleges do this - but on move-in day, they had a mandatory sign-in for refrigerators, and another sign-in for microwaves. Of course the freshmen didn’t know about this little trick and would always fall for it. If you tried to sign-in a microwave it would either be confiscated or the parent had to take it home.

Microwaves are pretty useful. I always used mine often (except when I was on a meal plan).

Just go ahead and bring one. I’ve never heard of anyone flipping out over the presence of a microwave.

I didn’t use a microwave my entire freshman year, and never once wished I had one in my room.

I microwave ramen around 3 am during exam weeks  But we are not allowed to have microwaves in our dorm rooms either.
So if I want to use it earlier, I usually find myself waiting behind couple of girls.
I love hot chocholate too, but strangely picked up this craving when I began my freshman year as well as my craving for 3 am ramen. Bad habits college teaches us :)
