How scary is it to read this:

well, duh…but I was actually talking about having an audition/interview…I do know what the art supplements are for, but like sports, dance (for example) is a little harder to put a portfolio together for…

But there is a dance certificate and a dance department, which is nearly the same thing.

Anyway, a question: Do they still have several readers per file or just two readers now before files are sent to committee? Does anyone know?

i dont know…i tend to think that the supplements (dance, music, art) aren’t NEARLY as important as athletic recruits.

Except, if what my regional admissions director/reader said is true, #2 on the president’s plans for the next 5 years at Pton is to improve the arts and performing arts and they are really trying to increase the number of artists in the class.

then i better be getting in

Ok, did anyone notice that teacher/GC recs were missing? They were! They should count for something, you know…

lol stop freaking, that article is outdated anyway. Of course recs count.

the teacher/gc recs are included in the “12 page application” reference, which is summarized by the primary and secondary readers.

I don’t know. Again, I submitted two separate portfolios, so maybe I’m putting too much hope into this…

Jssballet and I have the same regional rep, or so I believe (Jean Lee, yes?). And Ms. Lee told me the same. When I began talking about my involvement in visual art and (particularly) in writing, her face lit up and she began so excited I was expressing interest in the departments. She then began to highly encourage me to submit my portfolios etc. Why would she have exuded such enthusiasm if it really wasn’t on Princeton’s agenda to improve the arts?

Well, we’ll find out in a week, I guess, if my feelings about the matter are accurate…

well they do want artists…i simply don’t believe they will get carried away with it as they do with athletes

yeah c_j, we do have the same rep (she was a dancer, which makes me happy, lol, I need every advantage I could possibly get…)

Oh, I agree. No contention there. Athletes get more pull and always will. But that doesn’t mean artists can’t get some this round as well.

Haha. Yep, jss-- I heard she had been a dancer at Princeton, too. I’m also hoping she looks kindly on my art-oriented application as a result of her background. ;-)

ilcapo, are u also applying to harvard EA?

no, im not applying EA to harvard?

that is quite illegal.

i just thought i saw in your ■■■■■■■ that you were doing that.

ah yes, i should update good ole ■■■■■■■.

Ok, straight from Dean Rapelye: http://www.princeton.edu/~paw/archive_new/PAW04-05/04-1103/prezpage.html

[from the princeton alumni weekly. you know you’re getting just a little too obsessed with you start reading the PAW]

I’m the Mom and I am having chest pains just reading this.

Why do they make us fill a 12 page app if it all goes onto one card? What about all the other details like majors, leadership, recommendations, and interviews?
