How tall of a heel or wedge will you go, and what is your height?

I’m 5’11 1/2 (or 6’0" depending whose measuring) and I regularly wear 3" inch heels. Absolutely flat shoes are much less comfortable for me; I have a hard time wearing them.

If I could wear black suede ankle boots with a 2- to 3-inch block heel every day of my life, I would. By far the most comfortable style for me.

My feet are very big – size 11s are often too small – so I don’t always have a lot of choices. And right now I am having medical issues that are causing my feet and legs to swell and to be very painful so I’m in despair over shoes. :frowning: Truly in despair. I should start a different thread but it is so darn depressing. :frowning: :frowning:

When I’m healthy, I have no problem with 4" heels for a special occasion. I think tall women look good in heels.

Grr! Spellcheckers have “minds” of their own. :O) >:)

I’m 5’1" and wear a size 6 1/2 shoe. I wear everything - from flats to 4" stilletos. What shoe I wear depends on what outfit I am wearing.

5’8", nothing over 1.5". I am too klutzy for anything higher, and I have no tolerance for foot and ankle pain. The tallest shoes I wear are Sanita clogs, which are so comfortable and dressy enough for almost anything I need in my life. I also have cute flats. When I was in 8th grade, I had a pair of SHINY RED 3.5" platform shoes. (?!?) I was taller than guys on the basketball team. Did not care, either!

@nottelling I’m sorry you’re having trouble with your feet. It sucks to not feel good. (why isn’t there a hugs emoji?)

Nothing. For so many reasons, I won’t wear heels, my height being a minor one. I’m 6’

I’m 5’6" with a size 9 or 39/40 shoe, depending. I love stuart weitzman btw…it’s like they used my foot as the model.

I mostly wear flats and sandals in summer, boots in winter. I don’t like to go above 3". Makes me feel klutzy, my toes slide forward and sorry, if we can’t wear hose anymore, I can’t wear pumps barefoot without getting blisters.

I am 5’7" and don’t wear higher than a 2.5- inch heel max (and that, only for a couple of hours) because I have a bunion and it hurts. I like the way heels look but I simply cannot wear them anymore.

I’m 5’8" and used to try to wear 2 to 2.5 inch heels when I was younger, but I never mastered them. I’d wear them, but I was one of those women you see wobbling around. I don’t understand how, for example, the Duchess of Cambridge can confidently stomp around in those things, with nary an ankle giving way.

It was a great day when my podiatrist forbade me to ever wear heels again (pes cavus). I do not miss them!

5’7" (H is 6’) and I rarely wear heels of any kind. If I do, they are no more than 2 inches. I find them so uncomfortable. H doesn’t wear uncomfortable shoes–why should I?
I get to wear running shoes almost all the time. Size 9.

@MotherOfDragons. Pix or it didn’t happen. You can crop out your face

As I mentioned before, I am 5’7". H used to be 5’10.5", but he is a maybe 5’9" now. Neither of us care if I am taller in heels. Why?

I love to wear heels when I go out. I’m 5’5" and am very comfortable in 3.5-4" heels. Lower than that feels awkward to me. I need either high or flats.

“How do you gracefully manage stairs in tall heels?”

Elevator down, walk up.

These bad puppies have been voted the most comfortable heels ever:

Just as an observer
, observing the young woman around where I work, especially in my building (there are a number of financial firms in my building, which might have something to do with it), I am amazed at the shoes they wear, not too long ago you would see shoes like that at fetish clubs and such lol, a woman I work with calls it the ‘high heel wars’. I had a laugh a couple of years ago, my firm had its Christmas party at a hotel bar in the meat packing district here in NYC, that is now a very chic, upscale locale, but not many years ago was the wholesale meatpacking district, and at night besides having any number of clubs in the out there category (versus the beautiful people clubs of today), was also an active red light zone. I was coming out and laughed, and observed to my friend that some things didn’t change, the outfits and the shoes the young women were wearing weren’t all that much different than what I saw back when the area was more “gritty” lol

As far as wearing very high heels goes, a drag queen friend of mine’s advice to his women friends was “honey, those heels are for the bedroom, not the boardroom or the street” lol

sending more hugs to nottelling and hope you feel better very soon

Bunsen, thanks for the hint. I ended up taking the steep descent sideways and both feet on each step. No elevator although I’m sure there was an ADA exit somewhere.

I am amazed. I wear a size 7 which I thought was like the most common shoe size ( validated by the fact that they are always out of them when I am looking for shoes) but no one has yet mentioned size 7’s. I am about 5-3". BTW I got several separate spontaneous compliments on my wedge shoes today. They happened to almost perfectly match the pattern of my dress, which was a complete fluke. I had the shoes before I bought the dress.

I can’t figure out a way to show you my pictures without linking to my facebook page, which is super private. And you can’t link to personal blogs on here, either. I think the best I can do is to point to some pages in some specific magazines, and if they’re somewhere online, you should be able to find me?

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 1993, page 13
Sposabella Anno XVII N. 33 Gennaio 1990 -that one has no page numbers, but look for the Rina Linea Spose spread and those are all me. I also did the Caputo spread, and the editorial spread called Sul Lago Dorato.
Gioia N.47 20 Novembre 1989 starting on page 320.
This one might be the easiest one to find-Elegant Bride April/May 1991 editorial spread starting on page 54.

There were a lot more, but those are the only ones that I have sitting on the bookshelf in their original magazine form with the page numbers and dates. The rest are tearsheets. My kids are laughing at the super cheesy styles, lol. The pictures are not normally out in view, because that would be weird.

I’m size 7 1/2 in street shoes. I think that’s a very common size.
