How tall of a heel or wedge will you go, and what is your height?

Thanks BB, I will look…

Nordstrom carries PG shoes, so you can try a few styles on (also, Zappos), and 6pm often sells them at a good discount. The sizing is Austrian, so US 9.5 will be a 7 - make sure to note what sizing system any given seller is using.

Eileen Fisher makes some cute and comfy shoes. I would also look at AGL and Aquatalia.

I have a pair of Keen hiking boots recommended by idad and I can wear them like sneakers. When I go to NZ, I am not taking sneakers – just these boots and my Teva water sandals.

I tried Clarks and they just aren’t comfortable on my feet. One of my sisters swears by them.

I got a pair of Sketchers flip flops this year and they are amazing. I’ve had good experiences with Sketchers – the arch seems to hit the right place.

How tall of a heel? one to two inches. Height? five foot tall. I love my teva sandals.

I wear Tieks flats but wouldn’t want to walk all day in them. I wear Birkenstocks in fun colors- casual. Charleston Shoe Company has great low heels and wedge shoes, but their sizing is inconsistent and they only have a few retail outlets. BucketFeet print slip on sneakers. Fly London and Jambu for wedges, low heels for work. I have 12 pairs of running shoes…

And Bunsen’s awesome Eileen Fisher sandals!

So happy you like them, MOfWC. They worked well on cobblestones of Europe and are awesome elsewhere!

I’m 5’11" and mostly wear completely flat heels, though I recently bought a pair of boots with a 1" heel that is OK. Never, ever, higher than that. Last time I wore actual pumps with heels was when I worked in a fashion showroom in the 80’s and did the Working Girl thing with the sneakers on the subway commute and the pumps in my desk drawer.

I have these http://mobile.kohls.com/product/prd-2284158/skechers-ez-flex-2-pedestal-womens-slip-on-shoes.jsp?ci_mcc=ci&utm_campaign=JUNIOR%20SHOES&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=google&utm_product=99835813&CID=shopping15&gclid=CMOmmbjF0M4CFYE8gQod1FILBA&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CMm-t7jF0M4CFVEZgQodW2ABsw. A

I am at a wedding (ok yes, I am posting from a wedding) but only to share hey I bought a pair of inexpensive shows for this event and even with 2 1/2 " heels they are amazingly comfortable. Have been in them for 6 hrs, dancing, etc.

I spent last night in my go-to 2/5" peep toe pumps. No problem except my heels started to slip … I guess my feet got slightly sweaty as we crisscrossed back and forth several times across the the huge ballroom, I started to realize that my heels were slapping …my gait slowed… I returned to my table, shed my shoes and slipped my flip flops . Happy feet.

dragonmom, have you tried foot petals in your shoes? Best anti-slipping device ever. I had no idea they worked until a Nordstrom SA showed me the difference they made.

Beware of cheap flipflops!

Sad, sad, sad…

Haven’t heard of them, will look, thanks.,besides that and a heel grip thing, I could have had mote fun.

I can’t do peep-toe shoes; it makes me feel like my toes are being slowly extruded through a sausage maker.

These have a secret weapon…there is an upright section around the whole shoe, including the peep toe. They are structured more like a regular pump with the lid peeled back. Like a moccosin met a spike heel and their child came out in black patent. And the toe box matches my foot. No sausage, just pretty toenails showing. When they wear out I’m going to have to be all over the Internet finding a replacement.

I’ll go up to a 3-½ heel if I’m leaving from home, into the car, then to where I’m going. Traveling, I’m very hesitate to go that high because I don’t know how far I’ll have to walk with cabs, uber, etc. I recently got stuck in NYC in a tried and true pair of 3-½" Manolos that absolutely turned on me after about ten blocks. It seemed like a great night to walk back from the restaurant, but I could barely make it in flimsy soles on cobblestones and uneven pavement. I felt so foolish limping my way into the hotel. My feet can’t handle what I used to inflict on them! From now on, I’m taking a larger handbag and sticking a pair of flip flops inside just in case.

There is a big gap in the shoe market for well made, lower heeled dressy shoes.

@CountingDown I also need narrow shoes. I’m 5’4 and wear size 10 and if they don’t tie I need narrow (AA or AAA). I wear 2" or lower - mostly lower. High heels especially if not narrow make my feet slide forward and heels slip. I’m all about comfort these days. Lots of my shoes are VanEli. Good choice of traditional styles. With my size feet I’ve given up on super trendy

Absolutely agree, @Gourmetmom about the gap. Also, the need for a chunkier heel that it would not get stuck in between cobblestones etc. is not well-addressed. Miu Miu makes quite a few chunky heel styles that are dressy yet comfortable, but Dr. Prada’s designs had to grow on me before I could actually throw some $$ at them.

cobblestones - the bane of my existence
