You can intemperate the model in several ways. The correlation is strong, BUT what about the schools that are outliers.

“104 Baylor U 2.95 3.2”
“34 Florida 3.85 3.6”
“61 Clarkson 3.41 2.6”

This means some schools are getting hosed. In essence, the peer assessments are sometimes in spite of quantifiable data. I don’t feel like doing the math but Florida seems to be getting hosed by ~10 ranking spots??? Clarkson really takes a beating-no doubt because what does the dean of UC-Davis (type school) know about Clarkson? Come on- really? Shouldn’t US NEWS try to continually improve the model until there are no outliers?
