We took the youngest 6.6 miles away to her dorm for move-in last week. Same state flagship for all of our kids. No need to be super organized, thank goodness!
@4kids4us How is it, that they move away, took tons of stuff, and yet the room still looks like they live there? I begged D to at least clean stuff off the floor, and threatened to do it after she left. She threw a fit, and did pick up some, but there is a ways to go. She has begged us to leave the room as it is for when she comes home Xmas break. and promises that then she will really clean it. DH is still threatening to go in there. I might grant her wish but after break, then its open season. D17 has lived abroad already and either gone or worked at summer camps and did a great job herself packing, and did the hanger/garbage bag trick. She also insisted on drawer bins and packed the rest of her stuff in them, and labeled each drawer. I do give her kuddo’s for knowing how to pack. She is very organized besides her room. Hope her roommates dont mind clothes all over the floor.
^^^ My compromise here is to get a couple boxes/bins, throw all the loose stuff on the floor/bed in them and then shove them in D’s closet. She can choose to sort it out on break - or not! But at least I don’t have to look at it for months!
