HP discontinues it's Touchpad

I also got an email that said:

“Due to unexpected customer demand for this item, our inventory was depleted prior to your order being processed so we are unable to fulfill this item as requested. Consequently, we have canceled your order and you will not be billed for this amount.”

Darn. It was worth a shot.

Probably did you a favor…it won’t be worth 1/2 that in a few months…

Shucks, I got the same email as you! Oh well, not meant to be!

Razorsharp, some Tech Reporters disagree with you. Some believe that Microsoft’s tablet OS will gain much strength (and sales) in the comming year. That being said, I’m hoping to get an Android tablet for Xmas.

All the folks I know who ordered from B&N got that same email. H is content as he didn’t want me to invest a lot of energy learning a dinosaur, as we have in the past. He’d prefer that I use my energy on platforms that will be supported, so will see what is attractive to me.

I haven’t gotten that email yet. So wondering :)

If you didn’t get the email, you have a chance, but B&N had a lot less inventory than the # of orders they accepted. Would wait & see before buying any accessories, for one thing.

Are those the same tech reporters who pronounced the iPad an overpriced toy and who said the iPhone 4’s so-called “death grip problem” would be the death of the product?

HP in short order will become an overpriced ink company

Which tablets are using the Microsoft tablet OS? Between Android and Apple, I can’t see there being room for another tablet OS.

Still hoping I get one. My order says it’s expected to ship tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if it happens.

awww, just got my cancellation email instead of a shipping notice :(

Yep, me too :frowning: I’m angry and I let B&N know it. It’s pretty bad when the recorded message addresses the shortage of the HP Touchpad and sorry for any inconvenience…
Their response to me…“well, it’s not a live system so we take the orders and then we ran out of stock. That’s why you got the email” What a poor way to run a business.

Hi ho hi ho its back to Apple I go.

Yea, maybe will think about a tablet that will have support instead of this one that is a dinosaur. Hubby is pretty happy we DIDN’T get it. He prefers we get “with it” instead of collecting more fossils. :)

My big issue now is that my bank account was charged. WHY? If they didn’t have the item, why was I charged? B&N tells me they didn’t charge me but the funds are on hold and the bank tells me that B&N authorized the charge. :frowning: What a PITA.

B&N checked to see if my cc would be authorized to charge the amount but I haven’t been informed that any funds are being held or charged. It’s my AmEx Costco & they’re very good about advocating for cardholders, so I’m not too concerned.

I can’t find the article but HP announced today they will be releasing more of the $99 tablets. You can go to their website and sign up to get an email alert when they are available.

Hope I can grab one
