<p>Hmm, my advice to the OP is to not worry about the guidance counselor too much. They’ll write recommendations regardless of what schools you apply to. In fact, the first time I spoke to my guidance counselor was during my senior year when I asked her to fill out some forms for me. I do realize that guidance counselors play a large role at other schools, but the counselors at my school hardly did anything and we had a good number of students get into Ivies/Top-Tier schools this year. 3 to Penn, 2 to Stanford, 2 to Princeton, 2 to Cornell, 1 to Brown…etc.</p>
<p>Disclaimer: I’m not downplaying guidance counselors, but if they won’t “help” you per se, then I would take the initiative and figure things out myself.</p>
