@mabs
yeah, I got my waitlist yesterday. the blatent copy and paste generic “im sorry to keep you waiting” email was pretty funny, as they said, and I quote:
“You have been chosen as one of the alternates for the 2003 High School Honors Science/Mathematics Program at Michigan State University.”

@kash
haha I would have rather known about this waitlist weeks ago if I could have. Even if I was rejected, I would have wanted to know, rather than wait in anticipation only to possibly get completely shut down…

good luck to all you guys who are still waiting!

lol i emailed them and this is what i got O_O
Invitations to participate in the 2010 High School Honors Science Program will be sent out by the end of April.

Thanks for your inquiry.

Amy

so basically,

@azn: Join us! :)

My son will be joining HSHSP. He got admitted to the three programs : Simons, IOWA SSTP and HSHSP and decided to go to HSHSP.

@parent: If you don’t mind, and if he has a Facebook, tell him to join the group “HSHSP 2010!” We’re trying to find people before we actually go to camp. Also, congrats to him on getting into all of those programs!

Hi,
For those of you who get accepted, what is you grade,essay, book list? I get rejected and I need some help. Also, I noticed this is no list of ECs, so do you just include them in your essay? Thanks a lot in advance! I am planning on applying next year.

4.8 W 3.8 UW . Essay: very personal Book List- 3 magazines, 27 novels i read (no textbooks), i put some EC in my essay

did any sophomores get accepted?

Did anyone get financial aid?

For nopurpose, here my stats. 4.35W, 3.9UW. In the bibliography I found I had 8 books, although I know I read more books but just can’t find where I put the list. For my essay, I talked about why I liked science, my previous research experience and how it helped me grow, and how my extracurriculars make me different from the conventional science student because of leadership and involvement in music, foreign language, and Youth in Government. I also gave my teachers that work recommendations a list of extracurricular activities so that they could talk about one I wanted the emphasize, as well those I didn’t have time to mention in my essay.

However, I think that a rigorous curriculum helped me the most. I took chemistry and physics last year so I could take AP Bio and AP Physics this year. I also took the ACT in October so I would have a test score to send in. Study hard for the PSAT if you don’t want to take the ACT early and load up (an succeed in) difficult coursework.

everyone don’t worry, I just got my acceptance email today at about 8:49 A.M. I know an alumni from hshsp and he told me that they send out acceptances in batches up until about the end of thsi week

Stats:
2200 SAT
216 PSAT
AP bio AP calc AP euro - 5
essays were pretty beast
reading list was baout 20 mag/books
previous research exp
