HVAC Recommendations

So I am down to two contractors. One has suggested a Carrier two stage , the other Westinghouse. I am getting heating and cooling. The carrier has 3.5 ton listed, the Westinghouse 3 ton.

I like the Westinghouse contractor and they are offering 0% financing for 5 years, however the Carrier has a better warranty.

Any thoughts???

We just went through this a couple weeks ago… I got 4 estimates 2 from Trane people, 1 from Lennox and 1 from Carrier. We went with the Trane although I might have gone with a Lennox but the Trane had 0% financing for 5 years so that is the one I went with. I didn’t go with the Carrier because he wasn’t including everything the other 3 were and more importantly he told me I didn’t need to get it inspected by the city after it was installed… That does’t mean that Carriers are bad just that I wasn’t going to buy from that installer. We redid both our upstairs and downstairs ACs and furnaces. All four suggested the same size units. Can the Westinghouse contractor tell you why his is smaller?

I don’t know if you did this but with us I made them write down exactly what they were going to include. By that I mean things like are they going to replace the pluems, the refrigerant lines, the code has changed here so they had to put in a new flue vent and some other stuff. When you go through our subdivision you can see that most of the contractors reused things like the electrical box. Also make sure they get the permit and schedule the inspection.

If you are getting exactly the same thing for the same price then I might go with the Westinghouse…
