ok well my friends at columbia do tell me that they think the interview is quite important… If it went well then it could swing the adcoms decision!
fingers crossed! gd luck everybody!

Silver, sadly that only applies to international applicants (which is you, right?).

I wish the interview had more weight… :(

yep im an international applicant ![]()
does that mean im not really competing against the american applicants?
and ill just be looked at alongside the international applicants only.

apparantly about 100 people apply each year to Columbia College from Singapore… and i don’t know how many of those people apply ED… but last year about 10 of those people were accepted… that’s quite a high percentage for a small geographical region right?

Hmm…I BELIEVE every college have quotas for the number of international applicants, so I doubt you are competing against American kids…but that might be bad for you because international applicants are usally much more qualified.

Haha…I wonder how ED works in Singapore? If you don’t go does every college in Singapore blacklist you? LOL.

there is no ED in singapore. im not sure how unis work here…
and there are only like 2/3 unis neway… i’m only applying to the us.

I mean how does one apply ED from Singapore to Columbia? Supposedly you don’t go, do Singapore schools hold it aginst/blacklist you?

i apply just the same as u would apply.
and no singapore schools wont hold it against you… why would they? even if they did, i dont think it’d matter very much to me.

there a lot of international students from singapore at columbia (if i’m correct it’s the most represented of the internationals), so maybe that’s a good sign for you

I had my interview today. It was kind of ackward because we were both first-timers but other than that I think it went well. My interviewer told me that I was a good fit into Columbia

do interviewers go back to columbia to tell the ad com about your character?

no, they write a letter

smithk: “My interviewer told me that I was a good fit into Columbia”

Do you think all interviewers say that to all their interviewees?

Because my interviewer said pretty much the same thing… :S

my interviewer didn’t say that

theory refuted

i’m kind of upset that i haven’t been contacted for an interview yet though I live in NJ.

will it negatively affect me?

they contact you by phone right?

just a thought: for those of you using hotmail, set your filtering to “low” because otherwise mails from columbia get filtered as spams.

thank god i use yahoo.
But Columbia never sends me newsletters or updates or anything like that…
Am I not meant to be receiving regular mail from them?
I don’t get anything :(

nope, Columbia is very unlike WUSTL or NYU in that matter.

where’s WUSTL?

so it’s normal that Columbia doesn’t send out all those things right??
I’ve been in non-stop contact with my admissions officer… lol :)

I need her to know me!

WUSTL - Washington University in St. Louis

yup, Columbia just doens’t send out stuff, even after you get accepted the mailings are still sparse.
