I was researching some summer programs that I would possibly be interested in, yet I get discouraged by how much they cost. Some cost 5,000-10,000+ dollars! My mom does not make even near as much money as it would take to pay for the tuition (in fact, it would take over 1/3 of her entire salary!) Are there any programs out there that cover MOST, if not ALL of the tuition?? I was looking at Stanfords EPGY program, and it states that partial or FULL scholarships are offered to students who need them. Does it cover all the tuition (as I would need it to)? Any help/suggestion/advice/a point in the right direction would be nice, and I would be very grateful Thanks in advance.

There are many free and paid summer programs but they are super competitive and only students with stellar records get into these programs. If you think you might fit into this category of people then you might want to look at the thread below. Yes, scholarship may cover full cost of the programs, but again you need to apply and compete with many to get it. I don’t know what your interests are, but most programs are science or math related. It would be good to know what kinds of things you are interested in doing.

Thanks for the link. My main interests are in the humanities, arts, and social sciences. Although I do thoroughly enjoy the math and sciences, my background is not as strong as other applicants (i have never taken any qualifying tests, and am only in Pre-Cal/AP Chem).

Obviously, you are looking at the active Creative Writing Summer Program thread, right? Again, apply and ask for financial aid, it could be a lot of work to apply to many programs but you really don’t have anything to lose.

yes I am. Thanks again for your help.

You know about TASP right? It’s the Telluride Association Summer Program (for juniors). It’s fairly prestigious and it’s focused on the humanities. Make sure you like the seminar topics before you apply though. Here’s the link: [Telluride Association: Our Programs: For High School Students: Summer Program for Juniors (TASP): General Information](http://www.tellurideassociation.org/programs/high_school_students/tasp/tasp_general_info.html)

If you’re thinking about it, apply soon: the deadline is coming up. Good luck!

Edit: I forgot to say it’s free! That’s just one amazing part.

daniel, most of the summer camps you pay for are just designed by universities to get some easy cash.

Notre Dame has some summer programs like Global Issues that are completely free. The Economic Leaders Program I think only costs around $125. Many programs are free, reduced tuition or offer finanical aid. Keep on looking on cc and well as searching in general and you will find them. Now is the time to apply so don’t give up hope.

Most competitive ones waive all fees (except SSP). The problem is, application deadlines for a lot of them have either already passed, or are so very close that it’s no longer possible to apply for them.

I was in the same situation last summer. I ended up getting financial aid (about 2/3 of the cost) to Washington University in St. Louis.
It’s a program for rising juniors and seniors, and you pick two college classes for college credit. It’s five weeks long, and you live on campus. I had so much fun.

The application is free, plus they have so many areas of study.

I’m sorry :(

There’s many options; search here or google.

Worst case scenario, you get a job (look for one and it shouldn’t be that hard), have fun in your summer and do some productive things on your own.

If you want to do research in the humanities, social sciences, or arts, Clark Scholars would be a good choice for you. Check it out!:

Very nice program for low-income students. A lot of students end up matriculating to top colleges, so this is a very nice, respected program.

Try OleMiss Summer Program - you could even get in for free if you have a good ACT.

Do research at a local university
