I’m so annoyed. because chances are slim this year. and i really hope to attend. i’m out of state too so it seems a little more likely that they would accept Texas residents over me.

and I’m having trouble deciding what other school to consider.

41% in class. 25 ACT, 1100 SAT. I go to one of the top 100 (56 i belive) best/hardest high schools in the nation, one of the top in Texas. I have over 150 hours of community serivce, sports captian, Girl State (selective government leadership camp). Very excellent resume, and alot of A&M involment.

its not just about grades (yes thats a huge part) but TAMU really looks at other creditials too.

I don’t think the time you place your application is that important. Maybe things have changed since, but I got admitted in 06, turned A&M down, opted for Texas instead, had a change of heart mid-June, called A&M back, and got readmitted. I did have slightly higher on the SAT (1300/2100), and my class rank was 20%.

Isn’t registration open now? Does anybody know for sure when registration opens up for incoming Freshman for Fall, 09? From the A&M academic calendar,

April 16-May 1 Thursday-Friday. Preregistration for the 2009 fall semester.

My thinking is that wait lister’s won’t get in until late May up to mid-to-late June. Unless they hold up all registration for incoming freshman until then (which I doubt), wait listers are coming in at the back of the line to register. I could be wrong though. Thanks.

The April 16th to May 1st dates are for returning students. All incoming freshmen will register when they attend their New Student Conferences. Of course, the freshmen that attend the June NSC’s will have a better choice than those who don’t go until July or August. Transfer students will definitely be behind the 8-ball because they will be competing for classes that the returning students have already registered for. They have to wait until their NSC to register as well.

I think alot of students got hit hard this year with admissions as there were a few variables that caused this. For the most part the top 10% rule killed many students hope of getting into the two top public universities in texas which are a&m and ut austin. For kids who go to a non ranking school like myself have obviously had a harder time getting into these colleges due to the fact that the freshman class seats are being primarily taken up by these top 10ers. I myself attend a program in Dallas with a senior class of about 120-130 and many of them got capped and waitlisted.
My credentials are 3.7 Highschool, 3.2 college about 60 credit hours of college which completes my basics, tons of comm service, sports back in freshman and sophmore year at my normal high school before transfer, and just an overall rigor filled school. My sat scores were not as good as i had wanted them to be as I am not a very good timed tester. I received a 1160 for math and eng.
I have now decided to accept capp at ut san antonio and wait for the waitlist at a&m.

What I meant was, that the good classes will be filled. IE, the late morning and mid afternoon classes will most likely be gone. Leaving night classes and early morning classes. I for one am not a morning person and I prefer to study at night which I won’t be able to do if I have to take a night class.

i was waitlisted…
i’m ranked in the top 27% at my highschool which has been listed as one of the top 25 high schools in the country 3 out of the last 5 years.

SAT: 1400/1600 and 2080/2400
ACT: 30
I also had 300 service hours and quite an impressive resume.

It seems the top 10% rule is hurting quite a few people this year. Also, applying to the business school was apparently a bad decision. At the time though, it didn’t seem that way because I made the assumption that it would be difficult to deny someone admittance when they did that well on the SAT. I was obviously mistaken.

that sounds really good and all but according to all the admissions counselors i have spoken to, it is not true. this is what i was told and i quote “had you applied to another school than the business school, you surely would have been admitted. this year, it, among other schools, has filled up with top 10ers.”
