I-banking prospects - v.urgent!

Both are good. Penn hires into NY while Chicago tends to hire more into Chicago (duh…but it’s true – there are many more Penn analysts in NY than Chicago ones, but more Chicago guys in Chicago).

However, I’d recommend Penn. You’ll have an easier time getting a higher GPA, and it is completely untrue that CAS students get overshadowed by Wharton. If anything, you have an advantage over almost any other school because of places like Blackstone that only recruit actively at Wharton (and Harvard and Columbia). At Chicago, you won’t get exposure to some of the truly elite places.

Finally, you will meet a lot of very well-connected people at Penn, moreso than at Chicago. Freshman year, I was in a hall with two kids whose dads were Fortune 500 CEOs, and am good friends with them.

Really, whoever said CAS kids are overshadowed is a total idiot. Hell, I’m a sophomore with no connections and a 3.3 GPA and I have a front-office banking internship this summer (debt capital market summer analyst).
